Yesterday while spending entirely too much money at Walmart, I ran across this magnificent piece of organizational bliss on clearance.

Price: $2.44

It was love at first site. I mean I could virtually see my coupons organizing themselves. Ok, well maybe it wasn’t going to be that easy, but anything had to be better than what I was currently using. You know, the-stuff-everything-in-an-envelope-and-search-through-it-all-whenever-I-want-to-use-a-specific-coupon method.

Come on, don’t tell me you don’t use that method too?!

Well, No More!

Thanks to this handy organizer {and my ever-so-helpful-hubby) my coupons are looking drastically more organized.

The sleek gray binder has two sets of clear pockets on each clear plastic page.

A pocket for my full-sized coupon ads, which I have separated by date.

And a smaller, close-able pocket on the front of each side for my loose coupons.

This new system makes grabbing the coupons I need a fast and easy process {read: no more long searches through useless coupons}. Now I can hop on CouponMom, find the coupon matches I need, and then I only have to search through my binder by date; cutting out only what I need.

We started doing this at the start of last year, carried it on through the summer when I pushed her with more advanced books and still do it today when she forgets one she retired long ago . It total we have collected about 75 words and to date all save the more recent ones have been retired.

We’ve started a new word bank for 1st Grade from a small 3×5 notebook. It’s great because it keeps all the words in one place and she can conveniently carry it with her.

It has been so much fun to watch her vocabulary and confidence grow. We also keep all of the words we retire…it’s fun for her to be able to look at those note cards and see what she’s accomplished.

SO, here is my list :

Pretty, fruity, smelly lotions do more harm than good. Bugs love the smell and taste (?) of foo-foo lotions, non-scented will make you just as soft. Which leads me to

Do NOT forget the bug spray. You will spend a lot of time outside. So do the bugs.

Sunscreen. I know, it’s usually easy to remember to pack, but once you’re there you actually have to use it.

Value Sized bottles of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen. You will need them.

Extra Ink Pens and feminine products. If you bring 15 girls, bring 15 ink pens…you get the idea.

Band-Aides. These are as much for you as they are for them.

Kleenex. In fact, you might want to buy stock in Kleenex before the trip.

Trash Bags. Teenagers create a TON of trash, none of which will they pick up on their own.

Extra snacks. Then quickly hide them.

Extra clothes. SlurgeFest is disgusting.

Energy supplements. I know they can be bad for you, but I’m telling you a normal person’s body isn’t designed for all that walking naturally.

Last but not least, an open mind and heart. If you didn’t love these young people before you will. They aren’t perfect, but neither are you. By God’s grace you have the opportunity to be a witness to God’s perfect love in someone else. Be prepared. You will never be the same.

With two children under six, I have battled my share of clogged sinks and in the process have learned a thing or two about unclogging it on the fly or without any Liquid Plummer.

Remove as much of the standing water from the sink/bathtub, pouring it in a bucket for the time being. You can pour it out later.

Boil a large pot of water and pour the still boiling water down the drain. Use a plunger if necessary.

Its that simple.

I rarely need to do anything else to remove regular clogs.

I still have a little black book that I carry with me everywhere. I often have my little black book with me when I’m working. Not that kind of black book, it’s my idea book. I carry this book around with me all the time generally because I have ideas come to me when I’m out or unable to write at the moment. I need to be able to write the thoughts when they come to me. My memory is not real great, so I need to write everything down.

My LBB (Little Black Book) holds everything from blog and article ideas, to my to do lists, phone numbers and addresses. Often a parent will tell me something I need to remember at KG’s school, if I didn’t write it down I would automatically lose it. Since I use the LBB so often, I am always seeing my notes and remembering. I have recently started recording ideas writing ideas and outlines for ebooks I have planned.

Do you use something to help you remember important notes? What do you use to keep sane?

A wool ball that is. Wool dryer balls can save you up to 50% more drying type. They separate the pieces of clothes to further aide in the drying process. Each ball is designed to hold heat well and distribute it around the drum of the dryer equally. The wool felt on dryer balls help to make your clothes softer than with a dryer sheet.

Dryer sheets are not only made of paper, but often have animal tallow as their softening agent. For those of you who don’t already know animal tallow is fat from lambs and cattle. They also use tallow to make wax paper, margarine, soaps, crayons, candles, rubber, and some cosmetics.

Do you really want your fresh, clean laundry rubbing all over animal fat? I don’t. That’s why we use Dryer Balls. The friction caused by the wool felt creates a fabulous softness not available anywhere else. The more balls you use, the quicker the drying and the softer your clothes.

You can make your own wool felt dryer balls or if you’re like me and less craftily inclined, buy them from a fabulous Mom-Made company! For the furgalista’s you can throw in a few tennis balls and it does about the same thing.

If you just don’t think you’re ready to make the switch totally, I do suggest you try Method’s dryer sheets, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day dryer sheets, or Natural Choices Safe n’Soft fabric softener. None of these use harsh chemicals or animal tallow.

Be aware of what you use; that will work for you anytime, not just Wednesdays.

Recently I lost 40 pounds and found that I was having difficulty keeping my pants up without gaping. Using a belt isn’t always the most fashionable choice, but isABelt has come up with a great option with their product. It can be a super frugal choice for woman who have lost a lot of weight or are pregnant and can’t afford to buy new pants.

The isABelt is nearly invisible, fully adjustable and keeps me looking fantastic. You can wear the isABelt with any outfit and feel totally comfortable knowing you look fantastic and your pants are not gaping. The isABelt is 1/2 inch wide, strong, and flexible belt that virtually disappears

Photo Courtsey of isABelt

when worn.

The isABelt is great for women who are trying to lose weight or are pregnant because it is adjustable and can extend the life of your pants. When you are pregnant you don’t always want to have to buy new pants every time you move up a size, isABelt allows you pop a couple of buttons and squeeze a little more time out of those pre-pregnancy pants.

Make sure to adjust the isABelt properly (by following the directions) and wear it at or below the base of the waistband and is not adjusted too tight!

I was sent two of these to try a Medium and a Large. I kept the Medium to use and passed the Large on to my cousin who is pregnant and due in August. She has already gotten a ton of use out of it! isABelt also makes an isABelt Jr (for the young fashionista) and isABelt+ (for those Plus Size beauties).

isABelt is a frugal choice for any woman, because you can get the most life out of your pants.

In fact, I’m not busy…I’m CRAZY busy. With two kiddos, homework, dinner…you get the idea..I don’t have a lot of time to clean my house. Unfortunately, a clean house is very important here. Our children have severe dust mite allergies, so our house has to stay clean and this requires work. To help me keep up with my cleaning I have found it’s most helpful to schedule my cleaning. I take a calendar and write out my schedule. It’s pretty much one room a day with the every day/monthly items added where needed.

Here’s an example of what my average week looks like:

Monday-Clean Kitchen, Sweep Floor, Vacuum, Make Beds, Dishes
Tuesday-Dust, Plan for Mission, Friends, Vac, Dishes, Laundry
Wednesday-Clean Bathroom, vac, dishes, laundry, Mission Friends
Thursday-Wash Girl’s Sheets, Clean Kitchen, Vac under couch, Sweep & Mop, Dishes, Laundry
Friday-Wash Master Sheets, Iron, Dust, Vac, Dishes, Laundry
Saturday-General Clean up (Family Room, Living Room, and Desk), Vac, Dishes, Laundry
Sunday-Groceries, Vac, Dishes, Laundry

Having this calendar on my fridge keeps me on track and helps me keep my house intact. For those of you who have trouble staying organized, there IS help. Beverly Coggins, Professional Organizer, has created a series of easy to read and easy to follow mini books focused on helping you organize your life. 1-2-3…Get Organized offers more than twenty (20) products designed to help you organize your home, office, and life.
