Self.com Challenge Weigh In Week 2

This week was especially tough and it has been hard not to give into the temptation of late night cravings. I have lost a total of 7 pounds now and am down to 158lbs which for me slf_rr_300x75_challenge1isn’t too bad. I’m pretty proud of myself.  I’m feeling much better today, so I’ll be jumping back on the exercise/strength training bandwagon today.

Self.com‘s diary has been great for keeping me on track with my eating and encouraging me with the weightloss tracker.

My dress is kind of sleeveless (oh, and it was not designed for BlogHer, I just meant I was wearing TO BlogHer) and I need my arms to look great. Any suggestions on exercises to work my arms?

Self Challenge Week 1-Video

slf_rr_300x75_challenge1Wow.  This week was crazy.  I’m amazed by how fast it flew by and daunted by the thought that next week will be worse.  I have been trying to work out every day, but I’ll be honest I think I skipped Wednesday.  I even jogged most of the time I spent on Twitter last night at the #MNO-09 party. (Which was an absolute ball!!)

I have really enjoyed using the Self Challenge Homepage this week! It’s been so simple to input my food and exercises quickly.  I have learned that I do not consume enough calories in the day to keep my metabolism running in tip-top shape, but that the calories I do consume are often empty and/or sugar laden.  My goal for the upcoming week is to incorporate more protein and fiber into my diet while avoiding those late night pantry runs.

So, as promised, here is my video weigh-in for week 1.  Hope you enjoy, but don’t laugh too hard:)

So, any advice on how to manage the late night munchies? I often find myself snacking while I wait for hubby to get home. I’ve beeen trying to workout, jog or strength training, instead…but I am still starving during this time of night (9-11pm).

Don’t miss a single weigh-in! Be sure to sign up for Mom of Faith’s Email Newsletter. You won’t get emailed if I don’t write something new. Sign-up link is at top right.  Thanks!

So last week I wrote about the changes I am making to take back control of my life, well, much to my family’s joy I have been doing pretty well. Part of my taking back control includes taking control of my eating habits and weight gain.  To aide in my weight-loss/body toning, I have enlisted the help of my favorite magazine (other than All You) SELF in the form of The 2009 Self Challenge.

After a super quick sign-up process, I was ready to roll.  I am loving everything about the online resources!  I have access to a FREE Food Diary, Exercise Log, and Progress Reports.  I have been a member of My Food Diary before and paid $9 a month for the exact features you get on Self for FREE!  You can even chat along with other challengers on the easy to use forums.

I have been working out with Wii Fit, Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum, and Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout for about two weeks now and can tell a difference in my stamina and balance.  I have lost one pound so far and my goal is 20 pounds total loss.

I will be checking in every Friday with a Vlog weigh-in on the Wii.  I’m hoping the humliation of so many people watching it(I flatter myself) will be enough to motivate me.  I’m also going to keep a diary of each day and tell you all about them right here!

I will also be posting in black and white the number of total calories taken in and put out each week, so I can stay accountable.

I hope you will join me each Friday for Self Challenge Fridays.  Here are my beginning stats:

Weight: 164.5

Height: 5′ 8

Are you making any postive life changes? Do you see some in your future?

Modern Mom Challenge~Week 1

I have joined The Modern Mom Challenge with several other fabulous women who have a little extra junk they would like to be rid of.  I will be posting here weekly the results from the past week, as well as any problems, comments, and triumphs I may encounter. I am going to be attempting to workout AT LEAST twice a week again and eating healthy everyday.  I will also be posting a blog there occasionally to let my non-readers know what’s going on.  I plan to be supportive of my other ladies and do what I can to make this a GREAT Challenge.  I am ALSO participating in SuperMom’s Health and Wellness Email Class. So follow along with me as I complete assignments and try to maintain accountability.  If you, like me, have a few extra pounds to lose or just want to get healthy I encourage you to join with me.

Can I just say I HATE to workout. I mean HATE. I love all those foods that are terrible for you and sitting at working on the computer for all hours on my many various projects, but i HATE working out. I also HATE being grammatically correct, which is bad since I now edit a Ezine by day…but I digress. I edit a section of a food Ezine, so I look at food and write about food all day long. Sigh. I love it. Food I mean. I’ve got two crazy active girls and a hubs who works long hours. I volunteer at my eldest’s school twice a week for about two hours (ha.) and I am extremely involved at our church…it’s hard to find time when my ultra clingy two year old will allow me to work-out. I eat fairly healthy, just not often enough and I’m a notorious late night snacker. LOVE snacks. But, I am the daughter of two overweight parents (my dad is in the 300s) and my family has a long line of disease. I am committed to losing these last ten nagging pounds and eating what is good FOR me, not just what tastes good TO me. I am also committed to at least working out twice a week, I mean I have to do something I am TIRED of all this jiggly. UGH. I pray we are all successful and I apologize if I don’t post here enough. Please know I am reading yours and posting my own on my blog. Good Night and Good Luck =)

My goals:

  • To workout at least twice a week.
  • Eat 4/5 small healthy meals with a protien in each one.
  • To stay motivated through the entire process
  • To focus on my health more than my weight
  • BUT to lose 10 pounds

Stay tuned right here every Monday to see how I’m doing…I promise to be hones:)
