Review: Little Spirit Christmas in New York DVD

Review: Little SpiritI know it’s a little early, but Genius Products sent me the cutest Christmas movie, Little Spirit: Christmas in New York . Not only is it sweet and encouraging..it brought tears to my eyes..to quote my dear 6 year old…”This is the best Christmas movie ever! I love this Mommy!” It really is a great movie for the holidays and anytime..though it did my kids thinking about Christmas a little too soon for my tastes :)
So here’s the low down on Little Spirit: Christmas in New York:

When a friendly cabbie (Danny DeVito) tells two young sisters the story of a boy named Leo who moved to Manhattan with his family, a magical adventure begins. While adjusting to the big city and enjoying the days leading up to Christmas, Leo accidentally loses his dog Ramona in Central Park. Leo is devastated by his loss until a magical creature named Little Spirit appears. Leo and Little Spirit venture out on the journey of a lifetime, taking in the festive surroundings of the city and meeting people from all walks of life.

If you enjoy sweet, heartwarming Christmas movies that will bring tears to your eyes, Little Spirit: Christmas in New York is perfect for you..or a small person you know!

Review and Giveaway: Elmo’s Animal Adventures (CLOSED)

Review_Animal_AdventuresJoin Elmo on three animal packed adventures in Elmo’s Animal Adventures! First up help Elmo and Telly as they follow clues in their search for Little Bo Peep’s lost cow.  Then, you and your little one can use animal facts to help Elmo and your favorite fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby win the “The Find the Amphibian” game show.  Finally go camping with Elmo in the wilderness and help him learn how animals and little monsters are different.

As I expected, KJ loved this movie and surprisingly KG sat and enjoyed the whole thing too!  This movie gave me 46 minutes of quiet to get the dishes done and the laundry folded! It was great! To help KJ understand the concept and provide a little extra learning we took a trip to the local library and checked out some books on animals and their habitats.  After we read them we discussed how each animal was different and that although we are all different we all still need water, food, and a safe place to sleep.

I love knowing that when I sit KJ (and KG) in front of a Sesame Street movie I can be confident the content is appropriate and not “brain dribble”.  I’m thankful for these moments when I get some peace to pick up the house…or just drink a cup of coffee and I don’t have to feel guilty..much :)   Released on October 6, Elmo’s Animal Adventures would make a great Christmas gift for a small person in your life, it’s Elmo…it’s sure to please!

To help you get a jump start on the perfect Elmo DVD for your little one, Genius Products will be giving away 3 copies of Elmo’s Animal Adventures to my lucky readers! Are you ready to win? Here’s all you have to do!

Review: PaperSpring

About two weeks ago I got another package of stationery to review, this time from PaperSpring.  Now as you all know I love stationery!  While yes, I am a blogger and totally into the whole digital age, I still find something utterly romantic about sending handwritten notes to loved ones.  There’s nothing like receiving a hand written letter from a far-flung relative to make you feel loved.  That being said it only serves to follow that I want to send the best possible stationery to the people I take the time to send letters/notes to.

Paperspring, is a new social stationery website that allows personalization of Review: PaperSpringphoto birth announcements, birthday and shower invitations, thank you cards and more. They have been in the printing industry for 40 years but just launched a new website.

PaperSpring offers a wide variety of stationery to suit your needs, including photo baby announcements, holiday cards, invitations, and digital name art.  One of their newest and coolest products is Sticky Stock Photos, Sticky Stock “sticks like a post-it and leaves no sticky residue…It will stick to refrigerators, cupboards, walls, windows, anything flat and dry!” *One note about Sticky Stock Photos: They should be high-quality photos to avoid pixilazation.

Review: Purse Organization for the Clueless

In my never ending quest for better organization, I have come to find I have a lot of bags. Hubby says too many, but then I think he has too many video games…so we’re even.  One thing is for sure though I have quite a few and the last place any of them need to be is the floor.  They get squashed and smooshed lying there on the floor, but no more! I have discovered the Handy Holder by fabulous purse designer Sarah Shaw.

The Handy Holder has seven hanging loops for all your bags and comes in a ton of fabulous designer fabrics! Each of the hanging loops can hold up to 4 items each!! That’s a lot of purses (ball caps, scarves,

totes, etc)!  I love that all of my bags can be in the house and hung, though truth be told I’ll have to actually purchase another one…I have that many bags. I would love to get one for both of the girls rooms also!  They are so handy!

The Handy Holder has a nifty grommet at the top to make hanging easier and now Simply Sarah is offering a free door hanger with boxed purchase.  I just used one of the plastic hooks you can get at Walmart with mine.

Simply Sarah was founded by purse designer Sarah Shaw after need an outlet for her many creative urges.  From the made-to-order costuming business to designing sought after purses, her path has now evolved to a sucessful online boutique where Sarah can showcase her designs.  With all of her pieces priced affordably, I can afford to jorganize my home with style!

Review~Nana Star

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I will be doing reviews of some really great products that would make really great last minute Valentine’s Day gifts.

nana-star-logoThe generous founders and creative geniuses behind ee Publishing & Productions, LLC recently sent me their line of Nana Star products to let my girls play with. ee Publishing & Productions, The Laugh-Friendly Company, is a fabulous company focused on allowing children to be themselves and be chidren for as long as possible.  Thier motto is: Be Laugh Friendly. Change the World. I love that!  Think about how contagious a smile can be. When you see someone smiling, you can help but smile yourself.

ee Publishing & Productions is founded by sisters, Elizabeth Sills and Elena nanastar-doll_6Patrice, who are committed to changing the world one smile at a time.  The sisters developed Nana Star based on a picture book series their grandmother for her grandson, Vance.  She started creating the characters to show Vance someone would always be looking after him, that he could always have her with him.  Eliabeth, Elena, and their mother write and publish the Nana Star stories, and help to create the wonderful dolls that go with the books.

They sent my girls the adorable Nana Star positionable doll with Nana Star, the first book in the series, and Moonman with his coinciding book, Nana star and Moonman.  As soon as I opened the box, you would have thought Christmas had come again.  Both girls were squealing with delight and excitement, Hubby and I couldn’t get the boxes open quick enana-star-book-cdnough.

In the first book of the series, Nana Star begins a magical journey to return Little Star to his home in the heavens, teaching our little ones about friendship, love, and the courage to do the right thing.  This book has a mistake in it and when little readers find and correct this mistake they are able to join the Little Twinkles Club; it also comes with a story time CD which includes sing-along songs to enjoy with your munchkins.  KG became instantly attached to the Nana Star doll that was sent along and takes her everywhere, including in the car to school with her everyday.  Nana Star doll looks like a fairy princess, complete with lace hankie tucked in her organza over-skirt.  She has Little Star in one hand and a twig in the other. Her soft body make her an immediate bedtime buddy too; her yarn hair easy to maintain (don’t we all wish we could say the same?)

Moonman became KJ’s immediate friend (and now has a place of honor innsmoonman-doll_8_1 her bed) with his soft cuddly body, soft head that lights up when he plays his great little diddy after pressing his belly.  The book, Nana Star and Moonman, is also beautifully written and illustrated.  Nana Star has set off on her journey to take Little Star back to his home, but she feels scared and alone when it grows dark and the world seemingly goes to sleep without her. Moonman promises to always watch over her, even when she can’t see him, helps her to feel brave and strong.

moonman-book-cd_3Both books convey the message of unconditional love and friendship, while teaching our young ones such virtues as compassion, kindness, and generosity.  As in the first book, Nana Star and Moonman aslo includes a mistake, which offers the little readers an opportunity to become members of Nana Star’s Little Twinkles Club when they find and correct it.  When I revealed the books, we were off to the rocking chair where we proceed to read both beautifully written and illustrated books…instant classics in our house!

Readers who order any Nana Star product during the month of February will receive a 10% discount (code LF2009).

www.NanaStar.com offers an interactive website to the series, featuring animated versions of the stories; sign language interpretations; lessons for happy learning; orginal letters and artwork from the original Nana Star and so much more.  I recommend stopping by there and using their resources to further reinforce the lesson Nana Star teaches our kids.

Congratulations Tamara, please get back to me in the next 24 hours!

My Precious Girls have discovered a new love: The Precious Girls Club, created by the brains behind Precious Moments. The Precious Girls Club is focused on helping our girls discover how wonderful it is to be precious. For me, keeping my girls innocent and “precious” for as long as possible is a top priority. I have found that already in kindergarten KG is being faced with many adult situations; boyfriends and cussing just to name two. I am thrilled to find that at least one company is doing all they can to help me, as a parent, keep my daughters free of these adult situations and innocent for as long as possible.

When the Slimpression’s people contacted me about reviewing their slimming shirts I thought to myself…I don’t need to be slimmed.  But come one, let’s face it…we all need a little slimming. Review~CoverGirl’s OutLast Lip Stain

outlast_lipstain_lipstick_1About a month ago BzzAgent contacted me with the opportunity to try out Cover Girl’s newest product, LipStain and tell others about it.

For those of you who don’t know what BzzAgent is or what they’re about I’ll give you a quick run down. BuzzAgent sends users free samples of new products, who then go out into their communities and talk up the products in hopes of generating positive “word of mouth.”  It’s really great and this is second “campaign” I’ve participated in.  They have some great products and over 50 companies who do their marketing with them. If you are interested in signing up and participating also, hop over to their website and sign up!

Cover Girl’s latest beauty venture is into the world of lipstains.  Usually reserved for department stores lipstains are lighter, -, and stay put longer than traditional lipsticks. Now, let me say that I’m going to be completely honest about my thoughts on this new lipstain. I’m usually skeptical when I hear “stays put for hours”, but as I love new makeup I was willing to give it a shot. [Read more...]

cellfireThe first time I heard of Cellfire was “blogsurfing” and I was intrigued.  If this blogger was right here was yet another way for me to save time AND money.  Cellfire works a lot like P&G E-savers, Shortcuts, and most other loadable E-coupon sites I have seen.  You log on to their website , enter in your id (in this case your cell number) and password, and choose from the available coupons.  What makes this service different to me is the availability of other “deals”. For instance, in my area (between Lou.KY and Cincinnati) I could choose to load one free child’s admission to the Cincinnati Zoo, 15% off any purchase/$5 off 29.99 purchase at 1-800-Flowers.com on to my phone.  These deals have expiration dates just like coupons do so you need to use them before they expire.  You can load 50 offers to your phone number, this includes any coupons.  To load coupons to your Kroger card, you simply input the card number in the appropriate location after you sign up.  All you need to register is your cell phone number, birth year, zip code, sex, and email address.  One thing to be sure of, if you live in a small town without a Kroger, it would be easier when registering to use the zip code of the town with the Kroger because otherwise it may not show you the available coupons.  After you register, you go immediately to “Hot Deals” and start picking out the E-coupons you want to load to your card.  After picking your first coupon it will prompt you to input your Kroger card number and that’s it!  After that you’re all set.  You can choose to have them text or email you when new offers become available. You can browse the deals in your area using your phone or your PC. You can also choose to get Cellfire on your phone when you register, but Alltel and Cellular South charge a 1.99 to use the Cellfire service.  Data fees may be charged to your carrier, so if you don’t have an unlimited plan I wouldn’t use this often.  In order to use the other “deals”, you simply load them to your phone and when you’re ready to cash them in you show your phone to the cashier.   These work exactly like Shortcuts when in the store, they come immediately off your order…no problem.   Right now Cellfire grocery E-coupons are only available at Kroger affiliated stores.  The cashiers treat these E-coupons the same way they do all the others; if you load them online it’s less work for them.

To find out if your phone is compatible with the Cellfire Express (their mobile service) click here.

In the future I will be posting my reviews of books, movies, makeup, and other goodies right here…so please come back and check out what I’ve been trying so you don’t have to.

PS.  Right now I’m trying out CoverGirl’s Outlast Lipstain for BzzAgent (which I’ll talk more about in weeks to come), come back in a week and see what I thought.  I’ll be giving away a ton of Cover Girl coupons then too!
