We drink a lot of water in our house. I mean a lot. When we were still buying bottled water I was buying two 24 packs of bottled water a week.  That’s a lotta water and a lot of plastic to sit in the landfills for 1000 years.

About a year ago,  we invested in a PUR water pitcher.  Not long after we got it I dropped the top and broke it.  Not that it affected the purifying or really even the use of the pitcher, but it did affect the pouring and my spilling.

Since there wasn’t actually anything wrong with the pitcher itself, we did not replace it and would still be using it had I not been asked to review the new PUR Flavor Options recently.

Not A Fan of Flavored Bottled Water

Now,  I must tell you I am not a fan of bottled flavored water and was a little apprehensive about trying it out.  However, when I got a chance to try the Flavor Options out I was pleasantly surprised.  Since the pitcher allows you to control how much or how little flavor you add to the water, I didn’t have to worry about taste overwhelming me. Also, the flavor wasn’t overly sweet (if you don’t hit the button 3 times) and didn’t have the artificial taste so many bottled flavored waters do.

School Lunches

With the addition of a little flavor I have found my girls are drinking even more water than previously and I have started adding a small reusable bottle of the lightly flavored water to KG’s lunches.  She’s drinking it up and always asks for more when she gets home from school!

Filter Life Indicators

What was my biggest pet peeve in the old pitcher design has been eradicated with the addition of the automatic filter life indicator (which is a fancy way of saying a flashing light tells you when it’s time to change your filter.) I cannot tell you how happy this makes me.

I can never remember to change my filter or when the proper time to do it is…or inevitably, we just quit using it or buy a new filter several months later.  The new indicator flashes green when the filter is ok and doesn’t need to be changed, flashes yellow when it’s almost time to change, and flashes red when the time has come for a new filter.

Save Money

FYI: For all you frugalistas out there-You can save up to $600 a year drinking filtered water instead of bottled water!! That’s not a number to sneeze at, we could fund our trip to Disney World I keep telling the kiddos I’m going to take them on.

Community Responsibility

Another great thing about PUR is every time a PUR product is purchased, they donate a portion of their proceeds to Children’s Safe Drinking Water- an organization “focused on reducing sickness and death resulting from drinking contaminated water.”

We all know how important drinking water is to your health and the health of your family and now PUR has made it so much easier.  Not just for my family, but for yours also!

There are so many things I am thankful for…it’s hard to narrow it down to one thing.   I live a very charmed life; a new house, good husband, beautiful smart children, my health, loving extended family.

• I won a $25 gift card to Paper Shouts last week from Mom-2-Mom BlogTalk Radio Show which I spent today to buy Thank You cards for Mom of Faith.
• Later that day, I won a three pack of fabulous chocolates from Sweet Riot from the Ms. CEO Show.
• Last Friday I won a fabulous tote from #momfaves Sitewarming Party hosted by Resourceful Mom.
• Monday night my hubby calls to tell me that I WON A FLIP!! from Craftymamaof4, for me to VLog for NewBaby.com

But, even with all of those fabulous giveaways, the thing I am most thankful for this week is knowing that in three short weeks (or a little more) I will be an Auntie for the very first time! Shook.  My baby sister is due in the next 4 months, so I am praying fervently for his safe entry into the world and my sister’s health.  I am also praying that my sister’s husband is fully prepared for the onslaught that a new baby brings to your life.  Please pray with me for the safety of my sister, baby, and husband.

If you have a child, then you have at some point had candy in your home.  Was that candy made with organic fruit juice and sweeteners, natural colors and flavors? Was it free of Corn Syrup, GMOs, or Gluten? Did it have 100% of your daily Vitamin C? No? Then it wasn’t Surf Sweets candy.

Not only do Surf Sweets taste delicious, but it’s nice to know that what I am allowing my girls to have won’t have any long term negative effects on their bodies.  According to the non-profit Center for Science in the Public Interest, Yellow 5, Red 40, and six other widely used artificial colorings are linked to hyperactivity and behavior problems in children and should be prohibited from use in foods. Surf Sweets uses NO artificial colors or flavors and use organic fruit juices and sweeteners.

My daughters actually prefer Surf Sweets gummy candy over “name brand” gummy candy and so do I. I am a candy fanatic (I know, I’m supposed to be losing weight and NOT eating candy), so I had to try these candies. My absolute favorite is the Surf Sweets Sour Worms.  Surf Sweets Gummy Worms, and all their gummy candy, is softer and easier to chew than “name brand” candies.  They nearly melt in your mouth and the taste is so fresh!  I love that it tastes like real fruit, rather than the artificial fruit that sometimes passes for fruit flavor.  The jelly beans taste just like, if not a little better, than Jelly Bellys and knowing that they are better for my girls makes them a solid sell for me!

Surf Sweets sent me a box of their fabulous treats to try, including Jelly Beans (97% organic), Sour Worms (97% organic), Gummy Bears (97% organic), Fruity Bears (96% organic), Gummy Swirls (87% organic), and Gummy Worms (91% organic).  I took these treats to my Wednesday night Mission Friends class for the kids to have as a snack. My kids are notoriously picky in this class, there is always someone who doesn’t like something that is being offered. I figured this was the perfect setting to get honest reviews from kids about how the candy really tastes. Let me tell you, they were a HIT! Of course all kids love candy and my kids couldn’t tell there was anything different about this candy. It was all gone before snack-time was over and the kids were very happy. They loved it! I loved knowing I wasn’t filling their little bodies with artificial flavors.

My Precious Girls have discovered a new love: The Precious Girls Club, created by the brains behind Precious Moments. They also sent 5 paper back copies for KG to give to her friends, who’s mothers were thrilled. We finished the book within 5 days of getting it (it’s a chapter book and perfect for KG to read before bed at night), and the girls and I loved it. It has a wonderfully inspirational story about a young girl, Katie, who overcomes her own fears with a little bit of Faith and gains a lot in return. We will definitely be keeping up with this series. It teaches young girls that they are precious in God sight, that God created them special, and that He loves them just the way they are.

- Plenty of Precious Girls Club Pens and Stickers-These were great for me. I use pens all the time and the stickers are a great incentive for getting KJ to do…well, anything. I gave many of the pens to the same girl’s mothers who got the A Little Bit of Faith books.

When the Slimpression’s people contacted me about reviewing their slimming shirts I thought to myself…I don’t need to be slimmed.  But come one, let’s face it…we all need a little slimming. I decided to do a little research into who Slimpressions really are. What they stand for and what exactly the product was.  Slimpressions is a Marietta, GA based section of Branches Unlimited, LLC owned and operated by sisters-in-law with a combined 35 years of business experience. Slimpressions is a patent-pending line of shaping tops designed to slim a woman’s arms, back, and midsection. The Slimpressions line comes in four different colors: white, chocolate, black, and nude.

They have 3 different styles of shirts:
“The Haves” – These provide arm slimming coverage plus cleavage and midsection control.
“The Have Nots” – These provide arm slimming coverage, midsection control, without cleavage coverage.
“The Skinny Minis” – These provide upper body control top with not sleeves.
Okay, that’s the technical stuff…now it’s down to the real stuff, how it made me feel and how I liked it. When I first took these shirts out of the bag, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical.  I though how comfortable is am I going to be wearing this tiny thing?  I was a little worried to say the least. It says size 2 and I am NOT a size 2, I thought “Oh no, they’ve gotten the size wrong.” Well, good thing I read the provided material through before I emailed them…you see size 1 fits pant sizes 2-10, size 2 fits pant sizes 8-16, and size 3 fits pant sizes 14-22. Shew, good thing I checked first, because I would have felt REALLY dumb.

So I put the “The Haves” shirt on Saturday under a tee-shirt and sweater, I can honestly say I barely noticed it was on for the majority day.  I have found with other “slimming undergarments” either roll-up in an unflattering and uncomfortable way or make you feel like your eyes are going to pop right out of your head.  This shirt did neither. It stayed snug on my hips and didn’t make me feel like I was going to pass out.  I wore my “skinny jeans”, we all have them, and they were a little loose…which thrilled me to no end.  It takes a little getting used to putting them on; you step into the shirt, pull it up, and adjust the arms and chest to comfort. These shirts slim you down immediately all the way down to your hips, including any baby bump you might have left from your last bundle of joy.

“The Have Nots” shirt looks a bit comical when you first take it out, but it’s perfect for those of us who aren’t “endowed” in the chest area. It’s perfect for when you’re wearing a low cut shirt or dress, and when you don’t want to press down the ladies.  “The Skinny Minis” is a great cami and is perfect for when you need to wear a sleeveless shirt or dress, but want to maintain the sleek figure the entire line offers.
