America is Your Park – At Least it is Mine

The girls and I came home shopping for Mario birthday party supplies (KG will soon be 9) and blackberry bushes for the backyard to find this huge brown box on the front porch…now, I don’t know about you…but we LOVE big brown boxes! They almost always mean something cool is on the inside…today was no different!

The lovely folks at The Coca-Cola Company sent our family this awesome America is Your Park activity pack to share with our friends and community, how cool is that?

We’re excited to get this stuff out for KG’s birthday and many other times this summer!

Want to learn a little more about the America is Your Park program?  Great! Keep reading!

Coca-Cola and I believe parks are the anchors of our communities. They provide places for friends, families and neighbors to be active and enjoy the outdoors together. That’s why Coca-Cola is calling everyone out to their favorite parks to vote this summer.

Through the third-annual America Is Your Park campaign, people can vote for their favorite park to win the coveted title of “America’s Favorite Park.” Also at stake is a $100,000 recreation grant from the Coca-Cola Live Positively initiative. Just imagine what $100,000 could do for one of your area parks—it could mean new swing sets for your kids or perhaps a refurbished running trail for you.

And, more than one park will win. Second- and third-place parks will receive grants. Also, a $15,000 grant will be awarded, at random, to a lucky park that comes in 4th to 25th on the leader board by the end of the contest. These recreation grants are provided to help restore, rebuild or enhance activity areas in parks where people can play and be active.

It’s easy for you to become a park champion—just a few small actions can make a big difference in helping your favorite park win the title of “America’s Favorite Park!”

With just the click of a button, you can vote for your favorite park at LivePositively.com/parks. You can vote from your mobile phone too! On the site, you can also learn how to earn more votes by “checking-in” from the park.

Voting has already begun and goes through 11:59 p.m. ET on July 15, 2012. The winning parks will be announced in early August. Be sure to visit LivePositively.com/parks to see if your park won! Use the #VoteParks hashtag to spread the word about your favorite parks!!

Disclosure: I visited the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta in may to learn more about their philanthropic divisions and programs, including how Coca-Cola lives positively and their America is Your Park program.  They also sent me the America is Your Park activity pack!
