Flank Steak and Noodles with Beef Gravy {#Recipe}

I often find myself scraping through the cabinets on any given weeknight scrambling for dinner ideas and praying for a reprieve from having to head back out or I struggle to think of affordable delicious dinners that our family isn’t already sick of when it comes time to grocery shop.  Since flank steak is generally the most affordable of the cuts of steak and cooks up quickly, it’s also one of the more tough cuts, we usually always have a pound or so of it in the freezer, making it a go-to choice for week night dinners.

One of our family’s favorite weeknight dinners is flank steak with noodles and beef gravy, thankfully this meal is quick, easy, and affordable enough to have every week.

Flank Steak and Noodles with Beef Gravy {Recipe}

Ingredients

  • 1 lb dry noodles of your choice
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly and cut into medium-sized pieces
  • ½ medium white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can Heinz Homestyle Savory Beef gravy
  • 14 oz. low-sodium beef broth

Instructions

  1. Sear flank steak to desired doneness, we prefer medium well, and remove from heat.
  2. Add finely chopped onion to the steak pan and cook until onions are translucent, but not overdone.
  3. Add gravy and beef broth to onions and mix well (if your gravy is too thin add a little cornstarch and that should thicken it right up.)
  4. Now you’re ready to add your steak back to the gravy and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. While you are cooking the steak and gravy, bring 5 – 6 quarts of water to boil with salt added to taste; add pasta and boil until al dente (about 7 minutes.)
  6. Drain.
  7. Serve steak and gravy on top of noodles with hot rolls and a salad.

What is your go-to weeknight dinner choice for your family?

I was wondering if you would like to put up a link to this nice beef recipe in my Food on Friday Series. This week the ingredient is beef.
