Call out for Healthy Recipes & a Video Confessional #MamavationMonday

Happy Mamavation Monday!  Yes, I know it’s been OH so long since the last time we saw each other!! I can’t believe I was doing so good and then travel happens (as it always does) and boom!  I’m off the wagon faster than your head can spin!  This week I’ve got a little video, perhaps how I’ll start doing my check-ins (simply because I’m a narcissist and seeing myself on video is a good motivator.

Let’s start with my confessional!! (HA! I’m not giving it away, you’ll have to watch to see what I’m confessing…it’s nothing big or life changing or anything, so don’t be underwhelmed :D ).

I pulled out the treadmill again last night (I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it and what a great focuser it was!)and logged 30 minutes on it, which at midnight was a big feat for me. I stopped running just after completing the Couch to 5K and was a little bummed to see that so much of the stamina that I had fought so hard for had vanished…clearly, I’ll have to work back up to the time I was logging before.  Still though, I wasn’t back to the terrible – out of shape point I was at when I started the training, so that’s something I suppose.

So as I mentioned in the video, I have gained 5 of those hard fought pounds back and need to focus a little more on my eating and exercise levels, so I would love for you to share any links or suggestions for healthy delicious recipes in the comments for me to share with my family.  I’ll try some of the recipes you guys suggest and report back in a vlog next week!

Good to see you :) lol I don't have any recipes but as far as tips... I try to keep MANY fruits on-hand. Grapes (which I freeze for when I'm hungry for a frozen treat), strawberries, and I HAVE to have cantaloupe... also baby carrots (the sweet ones) and stuff like that. Or I get wheat thins if I want some chips or crackers. I've finally gotten to where I have WILL POWER so that's the big thing is being able to control yourself (which I realize takes time and discipline) and I make a habit of keeping COLDDDD water so I can try to quench my thirst just in case I'm not really hungry when I feel hungry between meals. Good luck in getting to your goals! :) I've gotten WAY more conscientious about my health this year and hope that doesn't change in the future because I've never felt this great in my entire adult life!

Anytime I have a craving for comfort food, I go to skinnytaste.com and look for Gina's healthier equivalent. Her recipes are AMAZING and have never let me down.

you're back...YAY! Good for you to get back to running. I wish I had a treadmill, but I have to resort to running in 85 degree humid weather here in South Florida. That is why I don't go do it as often as I should. Went running last week and thought I was going to melt! Really do need to suck it up and just get out there more often though, otherwise I just keep hitting that wall where my previous progress and stamina goes out the window and it takes forever to get to "that" place again.

You'll have to let me know how you like it! I love sharing recipes, although some may not always be the healthiest :X

I've always wanted a treadmill. So, great job on getting that back out! Don't worry about those 5 pounds. You'll get 'em gone!

Thanks for the encouragement, Lydia. I felt so good 5 pounds ago, so I know I'll pound them out one way or another.

Here's to getting back on track this week and kudos for a treadmill run at midnight!! You are stronger woman than me :)

Oh, how I can relate! I am working on the Couch to 5K too - although I've only made it up to week 7 and now am back down to week 4 - yep, sure does go away quickly, but you are right, never back to as abysmally out of shape as I was when I first started. Recipes - there are some decent ones here http://www.mominmanagement.com/recipe/ And I thought you may enjoy the video I made of myself one day (amazing how seeing yourself on video motivates me to run!) http://www.mominmanagement.com/5444/running-motivation-video-nsnation/

I so miss having a treadmill. I am not a fan of exercise but used to love doing the treadmill. I may have a few recipes for you. This first one is very very good but if you have picky eaters they may not try it. Spiced chicken over a green salad with balsamic vinaigrette http://www.shanamama.com/2011/09/spiced-chicken-over-green-salad-with.html Mediterranean Wrap Recipe (a favorite lunch of mine) http://www.shanamama.com/2011/10/mediterranean-wrap-recipe.html Fish Tacos http://www.shanamama.com/2010/10/fish-tacos.html Chicken a la Shana-(Serrano Chicken) http://www.shanamama.com/2012/02/chicken-la-shana-serrano-chicken-recipe.html

YAY! You are awesome, Shana! I can't wait to try the first recipe (though it may just have to be for Mama).

I have a gluten free recipe linky on my blog today! Once people start linking in, it will be a great source of healthy recipes. There is one every week. :-) It's hard to "get back on the wagon" when you've not been exercising, but I find it just takes once to feel motivated to keep it up. Good for you for getting on that treadmill!!!

Ooooo! Jo-Lynne! I am so there! I can't wait to try some new ideas and I've been toying with the idea of reducing the amount of gluten we eat.

I hate when time away from running makes it so hard to get back to where you once were. I'm currently in that boat but just keep reminding myself that consistency breeds progress. Now go make love to that treadmill ;)

I keep telling myself, I've done this before...it's just my body talking back. I CAN do this. :D Thanks for the encouragement Steph!
