Cheer Camp

Let me share a little information with you about me. I have no rhythm or timing, in essence I cannot dance.  I had been hoping KG would not inherit my lack of rhythm…alas, she did.  Today was a cheer camp given by the high school cheerleaders and KG was adamant about going.

One thing Hubby and I have always said was we wanted our girls to have the opportunity to try things until they found the “thing” they loved. For me it was softball, for Hubby it was computers…all we want is for our children to have the same opportunity to discover what they love.

I left KG there for two hours (because she does better without me) and when I got back she was doing SO good!  She is so cute..she really tries hard, but it dawned on me while watching her..she has my rhythm; having my rhythm essentially means she has none.  When arriving five minutes early to pick her up   and they are teach my child to shake her butt. Really? I had been warned this might be the case, so I was not shocked.  When we get out to the car, KG plops down in her booster and says “Mom, why did they want us to shake our butts?”  I burst out laughing and sputtered something about how they dance and she says  “it made me verwy uncomFORTable.”

She was very impressed with the gymnastics the older girls did, so I’m thinking we’ll start gymnastics and see what how that goes.  A friend of mine is the teacher and KG knows her well.  She’s due to start T-Ball for the first time this spring, so that should be fun.  I would like to note here that she also runs like me.  Also, not good.  So we’ll see.  The important thing is she is out there trying new things, finding out what she likes (and doesn’t), and making new friends.

I can’t wait for T-Ball season to start.  I just hope Hubby is able to watch her play sometime.  She left with a “totally cool, mom” HCHS cheerleader’s teeshirts, so it was all and all a fabulous experience for her. Oh, I forgot to mention they fed her a snack while she was there.  Two fudge-filled brownies with sprinkles on top.

I’ll post a photo as soon as I get it uploaded.
